Blade-Stone is a third person action adventure prototype. I've spent the entirety of my year long course working on it from pre-production all the way through to having a playable prototype of my vision for the game. Working on this project for the past year has been an invaluable experience for me as a Designer.
Blade-Stone is a science fantasy game that takes place on humanity's first off world colony on a far away planet decades after the colony was abandoned by the rest of humanity.
This playable slice includes a variety of systems including a fully functioning combat system, different movement mechanics and a quest system.
Working on this from beginning to end has been a great way for me to build my skills in Unreal Engine along with building my level design and combat design skills at the same time.
This outline sets out the foundations for the project and creating this document was great experience in building a living document that grew with the prototype. Building this document before starting on the prototype was great for me as it meant that I could use it as a reference and also to see how a project and its GDD live and change simultaneously.
A month or so of my course was dedicated to creating a professional level Pitch Deck that could be used to pitch my project for full development.
As with the GDD I had to update the Pitch Deck as I got further into the prototype and made changes to the core mechanics.
